"THE GANGS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM; they are only one symptom of the problem. In order to free young people from their bondage to street life, we must minister to them and walk with them until they are 'transformed by the renewing of their minds' (Romans 12:2).  If we're lucky, maybe we can get to them while they are still very young and steer them away from the gangs and the streets.  But maybe we will get there too late, and they will need us to walk with them and believe in them through it all and be there for them on the other side to pick up the pieces - if they stay alive that long."
